- “Artistic Techniques of Technology: Art as a Source of Theoretical Inquiry” Talk given at Lunds Konsthall, Sweden. 21. Apr 2022.
- This talk will examine the work of artists who use the technologies of machine vision as an aesthetic gesture within their work. It will draw on the speaker’s research into the phenomenon of machine vision from the perspective of art history and visual culture studies. As part of her research, the work of contemporary artists figures prominently as sources of theoretical inquiry, as they critically intervene in the ways machine vision processes and its production of images can reconstitute an understanding of vision and visuality. She will discuss how artistic methods and production can be a rich source of speculative knowledge about technology, further revealing its social and cultural implications through an engagement with its processes outside of the contexts of its development.
